Terms of Use

Effective date: October 30, 2026 · Last updated: October 30, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Boota Singh Sidhu (operating as Thaali) ("Thaali", "we", "us"), a sole proprietor based in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. They apply to the Thaali mobile app and related services. By creating an account or using Thaali, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Thaali.

In short: Thaali gives estimates only and is not medical advice. Premium is an optional subscription billed by Apple or Google that renews automatically until you cancel it in your store account. You can delete your account at any time in the app.

1. Who can use Thaali

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You must give accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us at ask@thaali.ai if you think someone else has used it.

2. Not medical advice

Thaali uses artificial intelligence (AI) to identify foods in your photos and estimate portions, calories and nutrients, and gives general, personalised suggestions based on the profile you choose to share. These are estimates and general information only. They may be wrong or incomplete, for example because of portion size, hidden ingredients such as ghee or oil, or how a dish was cooked.

3. Free plan and Thaali Premium

Thaali has a free plan, which includes a limited number of meal scans per day and a limited period of meal history, as shown in the app (currently 3 scans a day and 7 days of history). We may change the free plan's limits, with notice in the app.

Thaali Premium is an optional auto-renewing subscription that gives unlimited scans and your full meal history. It is offered as a monthly plan at CA$9.99 per month or a yearly plan at CA$59.99 per year (launch price). Prices may differ in other countries and currencies; the price shown in the app before you buy is the price you pay.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, notes and other information you add to Thaali ("your content"). You give us a limited permission to store, process and display your content only to provide and improve the service for you, including sending meal photos and the minimum needed profile details to our AI provider for analysis, as described in our Privacy Policy. Only add photos you have the right to use, and avoid photographing other people.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to: misuse or interfere with the service or its security; try to access other users' data; copy, reverse engineer or resell the app except as the law allows; use automated means to make scans or get around the free-plan limits; or use Thaali for anything unlawful or harmful.

6. Our app and content

Thaali, including its software, design, logos, text and food guidance, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from.

7. Changes to the service

We are always improving Thaali and may add, change or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces what Premium includes, we will tell you in the app in advance.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Thaali at any time and delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account), or by email as explained on our support page. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms, after notice where reasonable. Sections 2, 9, 10 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends.

9. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, Thaali is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it will always be available or error-free, or that any estimate, suggestion or calorie goal will be accurate or suitable for you. Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty or right that cannot be excluded under the consumer protection laws that apply to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for any decision you make about your diet or health based on Thaali. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Thaali is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for Thaali Premium in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) CA$100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud.

11. Apple App Store terms

If you downloaded Thaali from the Apple App Store: these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, or intellectual property claims; we are responsible for those as set out in these Terms. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a Canadian or U.S. government embargo and are not on any government list of restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use must also follow the App Store's Usage Rules.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. You and we agree to the jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada, for any dispute that we cannot resolve informally. If you live elsewhere, you keep any protections given to you by the mandatory consumer laws of where you live. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any concern quickly.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is important, we will update the date above and tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Thaali after the change, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree, you can delete your account and cancel your subscription.
